THE TITAN
DIS-80115 (Dorian)
HELICON (1989)
Ken Kolodner (hammered
dulcimer and fiddle)
Chris Norman (flute, whistles)
Robin Bullock (guitar, cittern and fiddle)
When Robin Bullock
is asked to name his favorite Helicon CD, he invariably picks this one.
This recording represented Helicon's growing interest in a repertoire
well beyond the boundaries of Celtic and American traditional music preceding
the rise of "World music" as a genre. Helicon has never claimed
to sound "authentic" when playing the music of other cultures.
However, the trio was very successful in bringing less familiar music
to Western audiences. This CD was originally recorded on Turquoise Records
and then re-released on Dorian.
