This recording is a double CD containing 35 old-time (Appalachian) traditional tunes played three ways over approximately 150 minutes: (1.) simply and at a very slow tempo; (2.) at a modest tempo but with chords, drones and other ornamentation; (3.) fully up-to-tempo.
Included are PDFs of the tune transcriptions written out in standard notation with bowings and style points (see a sample here). Also, included is a detailed discussion of bowing ideas and many other techniques.
This recording is appropriate for all levels.
While this recording is for fiddlers, the tunes are suitable for any instrument.
